Job Description:

The Sean N. Parker Center for Allergy and Asthma Research at Stanford University is an interdisciplinary center with focus on understanding the mechanisms of the immune system, the dysfunctions of which result in allergic reactions. A leader in allergy research, our Center works collaboratively with other researchers around the world to create a data-sharing cluster of information from our interlinked satellite centers to run novel and innovative clinical trials in allergy research.

Our Center includes Stanford specialists in diverse fields including immunology, gastroenterology, otolaryngology, chemistry, bioengineering, pathology, pulmonology, and genetics. Through laboratory and computational research, clinical trials, community outreach, and other efforts, the team works toward finding rationally-based therapies to provide the safest and best treatments for allergies and asthma. Research at the Center may have implications for a wide array of immune dysfunctions including asthma, eczema, food allergies, eosinophilic disorders, drug allergies, gastroenterological diseases, and more.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Enhance the relevance and impact of intended messaging.
  • Develop, compile and edit supplemental materials that support written communication (i.e., backgrounders, biographies, executive talking points, and other related materials).
  • Assist the department head in evaluating workflow, resources, and make recommendations.
  • Articulate the goals and vision in a way that is understandable and meaningful to various constituencies.
  • Clearly and credibly communicate a diverse array of topics.
  • Manage the writing process that is complex in nature reaching across organizational levels.
  • Demonstrate understanding of a wide variety of audiences.
  • Maintain high-level interactions with specialized constituents to promote departmental goals, visions, and strategies.
  • Research, develop, execute and manage high profile written publications/communications that:
  • Identify key information, messages and topics.s.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to change voice and writing style to fit a particular audience and purpose.
  • Firm understanding of web technologies and applications, including social networking, social media tools, and current communication trends.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and able to interact effectively with a diverse array of people, including senior leaders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent time management skills.
