Job Description:

The purpose of this position is to perform research, provide analysis, design and document cost effective, code compliant mechanical systems for Publix facilities, and to supervise the work of mechanical engineers and designers supporting this function. Mechanical Engineering covers all aspects of HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning), Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Refrigeration Design.

Job Responsibilities:

• reviewing plans submitted by external Mechanical Engineers for remodels and tenant build-outs
• production of site specific mechanical contract documents for all new Publix stores and the signing and sealing of the mechanical related documents for the purpose of submission to the local authority having jurisdiction for review and approval
• being the Mechanical Engineer of Record, signing and sealing Publix mechanical construction documents
• answering questions and providing direction to various customers
• assisting in the review of mechanical documents for unique stores as submitted by contracted consulting firms
• maintaining and/or improving the quality level and clarity of the mechanical drawings and specifications
• developing economical reviews of Publix’s mechanical system to ensure the systems provide the best possible economic benefit while reducing energy costs
• addressing mechanical engineering issues that arise in the permitting process.

Job Requirements:

• Oral and written communication skills
• 6 years experience working as an Mechanical Engineer
• Must be licensed professional engineer in Florida and can be licensed in all other states after hiring
• Ability to lead a variety of team members in completing the task
• Ability to draft in REVIT
• Knowledge of Leadership and Management principles
• Knowledge of proper building design process and building technology
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited engineering program
• Knowledge of Project Management
• Knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection and Refrigeration systems
