Job Description:

The Vegetation Management Land Consultant will be primarily responsible for oversight of Vegetation Management Services for internal clients associated with the System-wide Gas Line Clearing and Maintenance Program. This position will also support vegetation management on PG&E’s Construction Projects. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to support Gas Transmission safety projects, project management support for assigned geographic areas throughout the service territory, manage assigned location from tree inventory collection to final tree removal, present data to internal and external stakeholders, manage both professional service and vegetation removal contractors, and support the Program Director.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Work with and develop relationships with regulatory and governmental agencies, communities and other groups to communicate proposed actions and resolve issues before they escalate.
  • Ensure that project work scope, schedule and cost are accurately analyzed prior to commencement.
  • Actively plan, estimate and manage all project work for each line of business.
  • Provide leadership and foster an environment that encourages teamwork and innovative problem solving.
  • Identify, communicate and implement strategic initiatives to improve processes to benefit operations.
  • Provide clear direction to PG&E personnel, contract vegetation inspectors, and vegetation contractors in performance of day-to-day activities related integrated vegetation management.
  • Be a leader in the effort to obtain zero incidents. Complete all required safety training in a timely manner; promote safety awareness within and outside PG&E.
  • Maintain a superior safety ethic for self and others and conduct all work in accordance with all safety procedures.
  • Contributes significantly in developing company procedures, guidance, specifications and guidelines.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience in the application of pesticides, possess a Qualified Applicators License (QAL)
  • Demonstrated experience in governmental agency and NGO interaction
  • Proficient in the use of GIS applications
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability in budget forecasting, planning and management
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Possess a valid California Class C Driver’s License
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products
  • Associate degree with emphasis in natural resource management, soils, environmental resources, project management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years of experience in applicable subject area
