Job Description:
The Automation Specialist will work closely with manufacturing, business technology, process engineers, automation engineers & end users to develop and deploy PLC programs that interface with the manufacturing equipment. This position will be hands-on and requires a varied skill set strong in value engineering and continuous improvement.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform equipment backups.
- Perform small PLC and HMI modifications.
- Provide support to project engineering with equipment installations.
- Execute preventive maintenance work orders for automation tasks.
- Other tasks as assigned by the automation engineers.
- Modify Automation documentation for projects and day to day.
- Identify, Maintain and Troubleshoot Robotics and control network components.
- Provide support to process engineering and validation activities.
- Interpret drawings both mechanical and electrical.
Job Requirements:
- Able to climb ladders/steps
- Ability to work extended hours, holidays and/or weekends as needed.
- Able to lift items of 25lbs
- Able to stand for extended hours for test runs
Qualification & Experience:
- Experience in troubleshooting electrical control panels.
- Demonstrated experience supporting equipment installations.
- Knowledge of GMP and Qualification activities.
- AAS tech degree or completion of a technical certificate program with 6 years experience in manufacturing plant maintenance/ shop experience including 2 years experience in pharmaceutical industry
- High School diploma with 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and proven exceptional skills in engineering/maintenance disciplines. Course work (or equivalent experience) in general and specified areas of electro-mechanical disciplines. Knowledge of the general trades; i.e., construction, electrical, machine shop, computer programming.
- Must have a good working knowledge to include, but not limited to, the troubleshooting of VFD s, Motors/Wiring configurations, PLCs, Computers, Electrical Schematics, Control Circuits, and Preventive / Predictive maintenance.
- Familiarization with different brand of controllers and HMI’s
- Have theoretical knowledge of SCADA’s and Historians.
- BS technical degree with 2 years experience in pharmaceutical industry
