Job Description:

The incumbent will be a member of the Corporate Finance FP&A Core, Strategy, and Transformation team. It will partner with Medtronic’s CFO, leader of Corporate Strategy and VP’s of Corporate Finance and other enterprise finance leaders. This role has direct responsibility for leading the annual Strategic Planning Process, quarterly market share reporting, and will facilitate reporting and analysis to enable Capital Committee decision-making.  Strong collaboration and clear communication, including with senior executive leaders, are key and success will depend on effectively influencing and negotiating across businesses and regions to drive alignment on objectives and paths to execution. The Senior Finance Director should also be comfortable collaborating with and presenting updates on progress up to the EXCOM and finance leaders across the enterprise.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Understand, interpret, and apply strategic principles and financial forecasting processes to ensure robust understanding of Medtronic’s position relative to competitors in the industry.
  • Develop and maintain highly capable decision support methods and techniques for both strategic and ongoing tactical requirements
  • Lead annual global, enterprise-wide annual strategic planning process
  • Planning and Reporting: Accurately monitor and project an organization’s financial performance. Provide performance measures and interpret results in view of plans and objectives throughout the year relative to strategic plan and annual operating plan commitments.
  • Facilitate development of revenue plans for growth of 6-8% on existing $33B revenue base, providing an ongoing understanding of how Medtronic plays in the industry
  • Partner closely with Medtronic’s CFO, head of Corporate Strategy, and VP’s of FP&A
  • Financial Analysis: Organize and structure business information to identify specific risks and opportunities to the strategic plan, enterprise strategies and innovation.
  • Demonstrate a broad and in-depth understanding of business strategy and finance fundamentals.
  • Technology Knowledge and Application: Identify the information needs of senior executive leaders and the business.
  • Lead transformation initiatives for the Strategic Planning and the Capital Committee processes
  • Manage reporting and decision-support for multi-year strategic initiatives

Job Requirements:

  • Exceptional presentation, oral, and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to interface effectively with executive leaders, including C-Suite
  • Quantitative and data-driven analytical approach
  • Highly adaptable, adjusts style to maximize effectiveness with different audiences, and able to both influence and respond to change
  • Must be team oriented and able to adjust leadership style to maximize effectiveness
  • Understanding market size, market share, WAMGR
  • Confident and assertive style, but respectful of others
  • Strong influence management skills
  • Independent thinker, strong self-starter who takes initiative, and is comfortable with ambiguity

Qualification & Experience:

  • Medical Technology Industry experience
  • Experience navigating a large enterprise
  • Experience in developing and leading strategic plans and/or strategic projects
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience with 10+ years of managerial experience , or Advanced Degree with a minimum 13 years prior relevant experience, minimum of 10 years of managerial experience
  • Prior experience at a top-tier consulting firm
  • Bachelors degree required
