Job Responsibilities:
- Strong critical thinking skills including the ability to analyze complex problems and make decisions based on data and sound judgement
- Post-secondary education in Social Sciences (preferably a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Social Work) with child welfare experience. Equivalent combination of education, training and related experience may be considered
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to listen with understanding and sensitivity, to articulate messages in a clear and consist manner
- Storng interpersonal skills, with a high degree of professionalism, political acumen, and the ability to establish effective relationships with various stakeholders
- Effective working with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Work, Excel, PowerPoint and other various computer applications)
- Storng written communication skills with the ability to write clearly and persuasively
- Ability to build collaborative relationships, in order to coordinate and prioritize multi-system activities and create opportunities for solutions that meet multiple needs
Job Requirements:
- Experience dealing with First Nation and Metis issues, including but not limited to; the impacts of colonization and the historical impacts of residential schools, and applying these historical realities to present day service delivery related to the placement of children in care
- Experience working in program areas that provide alternate placement care, including group care, foster care, adoption, customary care, guardianship supports, or comparable work experience with adults requiring alternate care is preferred
