Job Description:

As the Senior Director of Data Engineering and Platforms, you will provide thought leadership, oversight, and hands on management for the enterprise data engineering and platforms that enable our data science, advanced analytics and business intelligence capabilities. This role will provide the overall technology direction and data strategy for the solutions that support our enterprise data and analytics capability globally at Foot Locker. You will be responsible for an organization of approximately 40 FTEs and staff augmentation resources that support the various aspects of our tools and platforms.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support a data-driven culture by educating the organization on everyday uses of data as a resource.
  • Work with key stakeholders to integrate analytics requirements, and updates into production cycles.
  • Manage, lead, and build a team with diverse skill sets and backgrounds leveraging a mix of internal and external resources. Focusing on creating a diverse, inclusive, and open culture. Mentor and enable our current associates to thrive in our organization.
  • Provide thought leadership in the data and analytics space, with focus on innovation and continuously improving our capabilities to lower TCO, increase time to delivery, improve platform stability, and bring new data and analytics capabilities to the fingertips of Foot Locker employees.
  • Conduct audits and troubleshoot tracking gaps to maintain data confidence and implement data standardization practices.
  • Establish and execute on multi-year roadmaps, highlighting current gaps and anticipating and fulfilling future business and customer needs in the digital and analytics space.
  • Solid knowledge of the SDLC, Agile, and Scrum and enforcement of standard software development practices.
  • Partner and establish collaborative relationships with business, analytics, data science, and technology teams in our North America, Europe, and
  • Asia Pacific regions. Work with our Data Science and Analytics organization in helping achieve our product goals and drive operating efficiencies.
  • Design, build and maintain a strong culture of DataOps. Implement and manage Agile and CI/CD best practices. Build, implement, and maintain robust data quality monitoring frameworks and proper security and access governance and controls.
  • Own the overall vision, deployment, and operation of our global enterprise data pipelines, tools, and platforms that are the foundation of our global enterprise data and analytics capability. This includes our enterprise data lake, data science, and business intelligence platforms.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of common ingestion patterns and how to utilize real-time, stream-based processing.
  • Public cloud experience around cloud native data and analytic technologies and frameworks (on AWS, Azure, and/or GCP).
  • Business Intelligence experience, preferably PowerBI.
  • Minimum of 10 years of technology leadership experience.
  • Experience with Agile and SLDC development methodologies.
  • Experience leading a Shared Services/Platform organization with a follow the sun model of internal and external resources. Must have client-first mentality, collaborative, and helpful attitude.
  • High level of attention to detail, quality, and effective verbal and written communication skills along with excellent follow-through.
  • Understanding of online measurement and analytics, with the ability to provide meaningful and actionable insights and analysis.
  • Proven history of self-direction, creativity, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Extensive experience working with a Data Science / Product organization group and enabling them to deliver at a fast pace.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Emphasis in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, Statistics, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading Data Engineering, Data Platform, and/or Business Intelligences/Analytics based teams.
  • Expert knowledge of data warehousing concepts, data schemas, etc.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously while successfully meeting established goals and deadlines; manage work in a fast-paced, and sometimes ambiguous environment.
