In this role you will have access to the latest technologies from around the world and help develop the next generation of batteries. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and have opportunity to develop capabilities across a range of materials processing, cell assembly and characterisation techniques.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reporting results to a range of stakeholders and documenting preparatory methods and SOP’s.
  • Use a combination of practical experience, creative thinking and continuous improvement methods, to propose, define, specify, implement, optimise and exploit disruptive, novel and established manufacturing techniques that will enable prototype cells, on time and according to specific project objectives.
  • Be flexible and resilient to change whilst responsible for leading operational and/or technical projects across a range of core operational activities across the engineering lifecycle.
  • You will lead activities within a multidisciplinary team, including researchers and technicians, to contribute to the development of production processes, enabling transfer from materials research through scaled-up prototypes to manufacturing using automated and semi-automated pilot equipment.
  • Gain a clear understanding of Dyson’s Energy Storage Requirements and apply your knowledge to optimise manufacturing processes for custom components in our cells, enabling the next generation of our products.
  • Line management and personnel development responsibilities for a team of engineers within the cell prototyping team responsible for scale-up of new processes, supporting equipment design and delivery of materials on time and in full to internal customers.
  • Ensuring that new activities are well planned and risk assessed.
  • Propose, define and help execute work supporting process understanding and robustness: from optimisation of existing methods, to evaluation, validation and optimisation of alternative methods, to defining critical process indicators and evaluating/implementing quality controls, to leading continuous improvement and the introduction of novel techniques to advance process understanding and effectiveness.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience leading projects in a quality-driven research or manufacturing environment, using quality and traceability systems and maintaining auditable activity and/or batch records.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOP) in a research or manufacturing environment. Managing compliance and change control.
  • Highly developed problem solving and analytical skills; attention to detail. An ability to identify problems and find solutions quickly and effectively; experience initiating and delegating continuous improvement activities.
