Job Description:
Employees in this position manage compliance, commercial and financial analytical services for Duke Energy Commercial wind, solar and battery assets. With limited supervision, this role performs compliance and analytical support functions, working with Development, Construction, Operations, Contracts and Legal, Finance, and other organizations to increase asset profit and loss visibility and to help ensure all commercial, contractual, regulatory and operational obligations are met.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supports area managers in developing and reviewing annual site budgets and performing periodic variance analyses to identify opportunities for profitability improvement.
- Prepares lender and partner budgets and annual growth budget, in coordination with Operations, Compliance, Development, Finance and other groups.
- Provides analytics and comparison to financing models.
- Prepares and reviews various asset analysis and reporting, including business cases and scenarios.
- Works with site management and other stakeholders to ensure asset compliance with commercial, contractual, regulatory and operational obligations.
- Interfaces with Operations and others to help identify, prioritize, and drive resolution to issues to improve performance and maximize asset value.
- Proactively participates in cross functional teams to help resolve material issues affecting operational projects (e.g. warranty claims, contract amendments and renewals, market impacts, etc.).
- Primary interface with tax equity partners, equity partners, PPA/hedge offtakers and other third parties for reporting and issues resolution.
- Engages in transition of new sites from Development to Construction to Operations, monitoring compliance and driving issue resolution.
- Provides input and review of the pro-forma financial models for new generation assets, including quality control for forecasting and budgeting.
Job Requirements:
- Good communication skills, both verbal and in writing with superiors, peers, partners and other stakeholders
- Experience with Renewables wind, solar or battery assets
- Problem solving, project management and process improvement implementation experience
- Strong knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering or other related degree AND
- Tax equity, back leverage and other financial modeling acumen
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment with changing priorities
- Ability to understand financial concepts, models and the potential impact of operations on investments and financial results
- 7 years plus years work related experience
- Ability to define issues, analyze problems, evaluate alternatives and develop sound conclusions
- Experience with contract interpretation and legal documents
- Strong business acumen and proven ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team
