Job Description:
The Senior Accounting Analyst will provide accounting, financial analysis, and reporting support for the Electric Segment and reports through the Controller’s Department. This role is responsible for certain internal and external accounting and reporting tasks. This position will be assigned specific regulatory and internal reporting related tasks during each cycle. The position interfaces with business representatives at all levels, at different jurisdictions, and in different departments/functions to provide expertise and assistance for accurate and timely revenue reporting.
Job Responsibilities:
- The senior analyst works closely with teammates and managers on various accounting/reporting activities that include: preparation of monthly internal reports such as the balance sheet variance analysis, preparation and review of associated footnote disclosures (Form 10Q/K)
- Preparation of quarterly earnings release financial information; preparation and review of regulatory or customer data request information; and other analyses and special projects.
- This position will work to ensure that GAAP and FERC reporting requirements are met.
- The team is focused on continuous improvements and the senior analyst is expected to identify and implement process improvements to produce efficiencies.
- This position works closely with a variety of internal customers, including FP&A, Rates & Regulatory, and Tax teams regarding various reporting and disclosure items.
- This senior analyst also works with internal and external auditors, providing necessary information and answering questions.
- This position will handle moderately complex reporting issues, and there may be occasional research and documentation of significant accounting issues/conclusions. Therefore, strong analytical skills and the ability to exercise judgment are essential.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience in utility or regulatory accounting environment
- Experience using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word and Power Point
- Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures
- Experience with financial applications (i.e., PeopleSoft, HFM, PowerPlan, etc.) and query tool (WebI)
- Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting/Finance or related discipline
- Advanced degree, preferably in Accounting
- Six (6) plus years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degree
- Eight (8) years or more of professional work related experience
- CPA or working toward CPA
- Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures
