Job Description:

This mid-level Database Engineer is responsible for ensuring database continuity and will work with Business Application Engineers and Developers to support new project initiatives, improving our existing environment through automation and innovation, while maintaining high security standards.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage database cost and licensing according to guidelines.
• Interface with other IT administrators to build highly automated database infrastructure.
• Be a subject matter expert in databases and cloud database services with a focus on SQL Server and Microsoft Azure. Maintain skill set on related technologies.
• Create clear documentation for technical audiences and supplement/rewrite existing documentation.
• Assist with mentorship of junior DataBase Engineers and the wider Infrastructure team on technology and best practices.
• Code and deploy automation to increase efficiency and improve the environment.
• Manage user access and database security. Assist with audit compliance procedures.
• Interface with Business Application Engineers and Developers to advise on database best practices and to assist with database related project initiatives.
• Perform analysis on existing workflows/processes, identifying pain points/roadblocks, and provide alternative improvements.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of 7 years of proven experience successfully building, supporting, and maintaining databases within the cloud, with focus on SQL Server and cloud-based database solutions required.
• Experience with migrations from on prem data center to cloud (Microsoft Azure preferred)
• Certifications: Database technology certifications or training is desired (MCSA, MCSE, Azure, etc.)
• Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays pursuant to industry demands.
• Education: B.A. / B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or relevant experience.
