Job Description:

AECOM’s Norfolk, VA office is hiring an Electrical Engineer to work on various designs of high-performance buildings within multiple sectors including Corporate Workplace and Commercial buildings, Federal Civilian and DoD, Healthcare, Mission Critical, Justice, and Higher Education projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops studies and designs to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work.
  • Lead junior engineers in engineering design development and professional growth
  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
  • Prepares technical specification sections.
  • Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of design package.
  • Researches, develops, designs, specifies, and witnesses the testing of electrical systems, equipment, components, and materials, applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering
  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
  • Performs quality control review of design calculations and drawings.
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff’s specific area of expertise.
  • Ensures conformance with standards, established design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction
  • Organizes and conducts site visits for the purpose of data collection and evaluation of electrical systems, equipment, components, and materials for projects with and without well-defined scopes
  • Senior technical resource to serve as technical advisor for team

Job Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of NFPA, ISA, IEEE Regulatory Codes
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Experienced in Electrical Power Calculation Software
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering or Architectural- Engineering with Electrical Emphasis Engineering from an accredited program
  • Six (6) years of design experience
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans and drawings
    PE License
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Experienced in application of National Electrical Code
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft programs and BIM software
  • Due to the nature of this work, US Citizenship is required.
