Tesco Ireland are currently seeking to appoint a Trade Analytics Manager. The Trade Analytics Manager is responsible for the development of ROI sales forecasting models and tools and creating production grade reporting and analytics solution for deep understanding of ongoing sales performance. The role works with our Enterprise Analytics team in Bengaluru to ensure we have accurate and up to date data, solution architecture, and productionising some of point solutions. The role will also work with stakeholders across the Finance, Customer, Channel and Product to ensure the forecast is understood and any business changes incorporated as required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Need to have a critical understanding of internal and external factors that has an impact on retail grocery sector that can help shape the forward thinking of trade in the organisation.
  • Specifically, the understanding of long term macro-economic trends and their effect on Tesco and the wider grocery market is key factor to the success of this role.
  • Engagement with external agencies to understand performance context vs the macro-economic variables to build quantitative and qualitative relational model that can be used in various descriptive or predictive analytics model. This will include usage of ML (machine learning) and multi variate regression techniques.
  • Taking into consideration impacts/changes due to current internal and external trends, updated business plans, trade driving initiatives and competitive/market dynamics, provide periodic/weekly updates on our annual forecast, Working with the business and our support team to understand drivers of performance and incorporating the impacts for future forecasts.
  • Ad-hoc data driven analysis to understand the implications of various business decisions on trade such as customer investments /events / Promotions etc.
  • Developing multi-dimensional automated reports on seasonal activity to support the operational teams to improve performance.
  • Data mining skill set ideally using SQL is also very important in this role as for adhoc analysis that will be key.
  • With the help of a combination of expert level working knowledge of various analytical toolsets (like Python, R, Alteryx) and applied statistical capability build various factor based predictive models towards understanding the future shape of trade.

Job Requirements:

  • Expert knowledge of Python, R, Tableau, Alteryx (not all but at least a few)
  • Strong statistical and analytical expertise – production, analysis and representation of data to facilitate business decision making
  • Engineering or Masters in Statistics along with bachelor’s degree in IT
  • Ideally have significant data and analytics consulting experience with delivery background.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) – Excel manipulation and usage of VBA and working with large data volumes (at times unstructured)
  • Strong understanding of retail market, macro-economic factors.
  • Accounting qualification preferred but not essential
  • Proven track record of working to agreed deadlines, multitasking and attention to detail
  • Proactive with the ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a high performing team
  • Expert data mining knowledge using Business Objects and SQL.
