Job Description:
The Marine Discipline Planner is responsible for planning discipline-specific (Marine) corrective, preventative maintenance, and minor modification activities while accounting for safety/health/environmental factors, reliability, and cost in support of production assets in the Gulf of Mexico.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that the stakeholders are fully updated as to the marine maintenance status of the assets
- Perform complex work prep activities for work orders requiring specialized subject matter expertise including but not limited to: detailed procedural job steps, identification of and coordination with 3rd party and/or construction needs for orders with support activity requirements, identification of and requisition of required materials/services to facilitate repairs at the asset, enter / update schedule needs as appropriate, identify production and/or personnel on board impacts, adhere to budget limits, seek platform leadership/finance approval as needed, adjust start date based upon needs of the asset/constraints
- Leading the overall planning and coordination tasks of Marine preventive and corrective maintenance. Specific areas being those applicable to marine systems – propulsion, hull structures, station keeping (turrets/moorings), cargo systems and machinery (bilge and ballast, ventilation, electrical systems, corrosion protection systems, etc.)
- Planning and facilitating coordination meetings, actions from those meetings, and follow up with action owners to ensure completion to deliver the required maintenance, inspections, and other offshore work.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of international, national and classification society rules and regulations which apply to maintenance and inspection activities.
- Ensuring that marine related requests from offshore or onshore technical support functions for advice and/or support are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Consulting with Discipline Engineers as needed for technical assistance
- Working with the offshore team to ensure full visibility of system defects/maintenance tasks and that they are effectively captured in the system (SAP).
Job Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written command of English
- B.S. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering or Experience equivalent
- Experience with SAP and wIMS preferred.
- Considerable depth of marine regulations, knowledge in design, construction, operations, and maintenance from applicable governing bodies including U.S. Coast Guard and American Bureau of Shipping.
- A legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
- At least five (5) years experience in Marine Engineering knowledge in design, construction, operations, and maintenance from periods ashore in an office or shipyard as an engineer with an engineering, marine or naval architecture background and/or sea-going experience culminating in a senior position as Chief Engineer, with emphasis on marine systems
- Familiarity working with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for typical marine systems, including U.S. based and non-U.S. based suppliers.
