Job Description:

The basic function of the Residential Operations Manager/Underwriter position is managing the Residential Loan Operations of the Bank and the underwriting of Residential mortgage loans to meet investor and portfolio guidelines. A successful candidate is responsible for managing the daily operations in an efficient and compliant manner and analyzing and rendering credit decisions on residential mortgage loan applications consistent with internal policies and investor guidelines.

Job Responsibilities:

• Implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations and Bank Compliance requirements
• Manage the Operations Team of the Mortgage Department
• Manage Department to meet established SLAs
• Evaluate loan submissions for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to agency and investor guidelines
• Review and approve appraisals
• Develop and Implement best practices in mortgage loan operations
• Calculate qualifying income including analyzing complex tax returns and financial statements
• Maintain a Best-in-class customer service standard
• Determines whether additional verification or analysis is needed in cases where information, and or compliant documentation may be questionable
• Analyze credit reports, income documentation, and asset statements

Job Requirements:

• Must be able to work under pressure to meet Bank service standards
• Highly detailed and organized with ability to multi-task
• Current knowledge of Fannie/Freddie guidelines, standards, and practices regarding tax return analysis and appraisal review
• Comprehension of FNMA, FHLMC and other investor guidelines
• Working knowledge of Underwriting Conventional Agency Loans and VA Loans
• Experience with Automated Underwriting Systems
• Must be dependable, self-motivated, and require minimal supervision
• 4+ years of recent experience as an Underwriter
• High level of integrity and trust
• Must be able to work 40 hours per week and overtime as required
