Job Description:
The Principal Product Specialist, Commercial Engagement will be responsible for leading marketing associated with Medtronic’s Global Circular and Powered Circular Stapling portfolio with our Surgical Innovations business. You will act as a liaison between all Global Regions in building and executing the global circular stapling strategy. These responsibilities will include leading marketing plans for the circular stapling portfolio to achieving revenue, profit and market share targets.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic guidance to areas to establish and maintain effective and valid product line forecasting by assisting with the analysis of historical sales performance data and market research/competitive intelligence.
- Create and present annual business plans.
- Plan, organize and attend strategic customer site visits.
- Manage new product launches including planning and executing pre-launch demand generation activity; leading logistical, promotional and sales support activity during launch; and driving post-launch tracking and marketing programs to maximize sales.
- Evaluate and research market trends, competitive activity product improvement and cost savings programs for product line(s) and recommend corrective actions, product enhancements, and opportunities necessary to achieve the marketing objectives.
- Collaborates with Marketing and Sales teams regarding strategic plan for the specific product area and initiatives, inclusive of launch plans, positioning, and messaging.
- Develop strategies and execute marketing plans and programs, both short-and long-term, to ensure the profitable growth and market share of the stapling portfolio.
- Identify new regional market opportunities and create relevant project proposals. Develop promotional strategies, sales support materials, educational aids, etc. to grow market share to ensure sales excellence.
- Manage a diverse portfolio including product prioritization and rationalization. Drives product and procedural adoption in collaboration with worldwide markets.

- 20-30% travel
- Ability to seek consensus/approval where needed.
- Demonstrated ability to understand a market, develop a business plan, and create opportunity models.
- Good clinical and technical acumen to assess product gaps and opportunities
- Ability to participate and actively contribute in cross-functional teams (including outside vendors or agencies) for successful strategy execution.
- Skilled in strategic thinking and product positioning.
- Ability to help identify and build key opinion leader support.
- Strong organizational skills. Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-moving environment.
- Curious and enthusiastic – ability to work independently while still being a strong communicator and seeking guidance when needed.
- Demonstrated strong customer relationships within the medical device field.
Qualification & Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of successful marketing experience within the medical device field with experience in strategic product development and planning
- MBA
- Bachelors degree required
