As an Underwriting Director (non-management) you will provide subject matter expertise on underwriting assignments and projects. They are responsible for underwriting life insurance applications within their designated approval limit of up to $20,000,000 to age 85. They evaluate and assess complex risks to determine whether to accept an insurance application and determine the appropriate coverage/risk. This position will adhere to medical, non-medical, and financial guidelines while determining an individual’s insurability.

Job Responsibilities:

• Identifies trends/issues and offers solutions on complex issues, including appeals and exceptions to meet customer needs while ensuring alignment to business strategies.
• Enhances departmental outcomes by sharing knowledge with team members and providing advice on complex underwriting determinations.
• Identifies and directs the implementation of process improvements that significantly improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
• Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
• Determines whether to accept, modify, or decline a risk through evaluation of an individual’s medical history or physical condition, occupational hazard, and financial background.

Job Requirements:

• 4 Year/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor’s) –
• 5 7+ Years Individual Life Underwriting experience directly aligned to the specific responsibilities of this position. (Required )
