Job Description:

The Director, Fair Lending Program reports directly to the Chief Compliance Officer and is accountable for maintaining FNBO’s compliance with fair lending regulatory expectations and HMDA data collection requirements. The Director is responsible for proactively understanding emerging risks, adapting program components to address gaps, and engaging audiences at all organizational levels in practices that align with fair and responsible lending principles. With the increasing pervasiveness of artificial intelligence, machine learning and/or natural language processing models, this role will continue evolving compliance governance to drive fairness in customer-impacting models.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages fair lending- and HMDA-related audit and exam matters
  • Manages the implementation of changes to fair lending or HMDA regulatory requirements in collaboration with impacted business units
  • Manages fair lending and HMDA training content for Bank employees, the Compliance department and the Board
  • Manages proactive analyses to monitor FNBO’s fair lending risk, including advanced statistical analyses
  • Reviews applicable regulatory guidance and enforcement actions for emerging risks and prepares a risk assessment with recommended actions for internal bank departments as appropriate
  • Provides advisory services and direction on fair lending and HMDA matters
  • Appropriately communicates fair lending regulatory risk and any required changes in business practices to key stakeholders at different organizational levels
  • Recommends appropriate actions and obtains organizational buy-in for implementation
  • Responsible for overseeing HMDA data collection, data integrity and annual reporting processes

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business-related field or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to work with data, including managing highly complex statistical analyses, and drawing conclusions and recommend actions based on data, trends, key risk indicators
  • Demonstrated understanding of fair lending compliance concepts, with an ability to translate this understanding into effective programs that meet business and regulatory needs
  • Excellent project/time management skills and the ability to multi-task and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically, while developing and implementing tactical solutions to business plans
  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Management (CRCM) or other relevant risk management certification
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with an aptitude for delivering information effectively to all levels of management
