Job Description:
Provide local and US market fuels information and technical support, act as a subject matter expert on fuel interaction within Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Participate in US activities advancing Mercedes-Benz interest, including low carbon fuels, warranty concerns and emission impacts.
Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor and identify US industry trends in automotive lubrication industry, including engine oils and EV drivetrain fluids.
- Represent Mercedes-Benz at various industry forums (Alliance for Automotive Innovation, ASTM International, Coordinating Research Council and SAE).
- Serve as the company’s technical representative in the US.
- Identify low carbon solutions for ICE vehicles, including low carbon fuels and lubricants.
- Serve as liaison between Daimler Research and Development in Germany and the relevant Daimler US entities (MBRDNA, External Affairs Washington Office and the US sales organization).
- Provide technical expertise on emerging vehicle fuel topics.
- Assist External Affairs Office on technical matters related to vehicle fuel legislation.
- Develop and advocate policy on fuels topics, which support and enhance Daimler’s strategy and business decisions.
Job Requirements:
- Business: General knowledge of fundamental business practices and concepts that impact the success and profitability of the organization.
- Project Management Skills: Ability to develop plans/ projects from conceptualization to implementation. Ability to organize workflow and direct tasks as well as document milestones.
- Automotive-Technical: Understanding the effect of fuel composition on engine design. Knowledge of greenhouse gas and emissions regulations.
- Demonstrated proficiency in working in a global corporate environment.
- Good knowledge of vehicle and powertrain technologies.
- Communication: Ability to effectively summarize and present relevant technical and regulatory subjects. Effective writing skills for communication on regulatory issues.
Qualification & Experience:
- Regulatory Affairs: Demonstrated experience in federal and state regulatory notice and comment procedures.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the automotive field.
- Bachelor’s Degree- Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on internal combustion engines.
- Interpersonal and Team Skills: Experience in intercultural environment. Ability to work in an international organizational structure with multiple contact points.
