Job Responsibilities: Present and respond (written and verbally) to FRA on required regulatory documentation or comments from FRA received against regulatory documentation submissions. Participate in applicable Interoperable Train Control (ITC) and American Association of Railroad (AAR) committees. Participate in the review of vendor or industry technical and safety documentation to support current and future train control technology. Be the lead writer for Positive Train Control (PTC) and other Train Control related regulatory and policy documentation. This may include, but is not limited to, PTC Safety Plans, Product Safety Plans, PTC Implementation Plans, and other internal BNSF or industry documentation to support these efforts across current and future Train Control technologies. Work with Knowledge Manager and internal SMEs to ensure current regulatory documentation is kept up-to-date per the current Knowledge Management Evergreen process. Job Requirements: Able to work with cross functional teams in NCS, Signal, Telecommunications, Technology Services, Legal, Mechanical, Transportations, and Rules to produce and ensure necessary regulatory documentation is accurate. 5 years of railroad experience in Signal, Telecommunications, Train Control, or Transportation related areas. Education or experience with safety engineering principles, equivalent standards, or safety documentation. Experience with current FRA regulations regarding signal or train control and knowledge of the regulatory process. Have excellent verbal communication and presentation skills. Must be comfortable providing information and defending arguments to internal stakeholders, management, other industry representatives, and the FRA. Have experience working with regulations. This includes the analysis and communication of regulatory language to other stakeholders. Have an eye for detail in writing and reviewing documentation. Consistency and precision are paramount. Bachelor’s Degree with preference in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Technical Writing, or similar degree.
