USFS Jobs – Deputy Forest Supervisor

Job Description:

This position is located on the Santa Fe National Forest in Santa Fe, NM. Incumbent serves as Deputy to the Forest Supervisor, with responsibility for management, protection, and development of forest resources on the Santa Fe National Forest.

Job Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate a commitment to fostering and promoting an equitable, inclusive, and safe work environment.
• Represent the Forest Supervisor in any setting affecting the Forest, either internal or external.
• Meet with members of Congress, State and local elected officials, tribal leaders, concerned citizens, and industrial and public interest groups to gain input into the unit?s programs.
• Assist in managing Forest programs that include large and complex resource programs which have outstanding local and national socioeconomic impact.
• Share responsibility with the Forest Supervisor for providing technical and administrative direction to all activities on the Forest, including supervision of Forest employees through intermediate supervisors.
• Assist in managing resources, goods, and services of a designated area on the Forest with responsibility for development, production, conservation, and utilization of the natural resources on the forest.
• Share responsibility with the Forest Supervisor for the overall planning, formulation, coordination and direction of all programs on the forest.

Job Requirements:

• Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
• Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
• Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.
