Job Description: The Chief of Staff and Special Initiatives Lead is a key strategic position within the Global Center for Gender Equality (GGfGE), reporting directly to the Executive Director (ED). The CoS/Special Initiatives Lead will support the Executive Director and Leadership team in follow-through on management, operational, and leadership development priorities, represent programmatic points of view to inform the development and implementation of Center Strategic Initiatives, and effectively lead and manage the Office of the Executive Director to achieve goals of the Center and drive the implementation of cross-university priorities. The Chief of Staff also serves as a liaison between the GCfGE leadership team and ensure synchronization, coordination, decision-making, planning and communication between leadership members. Job Responsibilities: Assists the Executive Director in writing, including speeches, correspondence, presentations, funding proposals and reports. Conducts research on funding opportunities, partners and potential donors at the direction of the Executive Director and/or Leadership team. Collaborates with administrative and faculty leaders, helps identify and resolve complex issues of substantial significance that affect the overall functioning of the Center, and helps move forward institutional priorities. Supports the workload of the ED and prioritization of time by managing information flow, resolving issues, providing analysis and advice on key issues. Directs Executive Director's office staff to ensure smooth functioning of office, including helping to determine and prioritize which matters need ED's attention. Acts as representative internally and externally to stakeholders and/or meetings on behalf of ED as requested/needed Job Requirements: Advanced oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization. People Manager: Knowledge and the ability to apply sound supervisory practices. Flexibility: Energy, resilience, and good humor. Flexibility in schedule, ability to travel nationally and internationally for extended periods of time. Minimum of 7 years of supervisory experience leading major cross-functional projects. Ability to manage budgets and develop financial plans. Minimum of MBA or Master’s degree in field relevant for Center. 12+ years working in fast-paced highly matrixed international organization.
