Job Description:
Reporting to the Business Lead, the Product Owner is ultimately accountable for the vision, the order/priority of delivery and articulating the benefits associated with each feature within their service. The Product Owner manages the business design teams and processes, working in partnership with the Technical Lead they turn high level concepts into clearly articulated designs ready for delivery to begin. A key part of the delivery and testing process, they actively seek customer feedback and use it to constantly refine and improve the service.
Job Responsibilities:
- Owns the Discovery process and is responsible for breaking Epics into features and ‘just in time’ stories for delivery within JIRA and Confluence. Owns the Definition of Done and Definition of Ready.
- Establish a ‘continuous discovery’ process which is 3-4 sprints ahead.
- Attends the Business Design Authority, accountable for resolving open business questions and gaining wider design approval. Highlights business dependencies in other delivery teams.
- Is the primary communicator and link between stakeholders and teams, must coordinate buy-in from stakeholders on all major decisions and strategy.
- Develop and communicate the goals, vision and ‘go to market’ strategy effectively to stakeholders and the team. Breaking the vision into Epics with clearly articulated benefits.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to the business analyst and UX design resources, championing agile design best practice.
- Coordinates market and user research to predict opportunities and future needs, capturing feedback and data which can be used to improve the service.
- Accepts story completion as part of the delivery process and is an active part of the testing process.
Job Requirements:
- Is a proven leader and prides themselves in building highly productive teams.
- Understands the key metrics that should be captured and reviewed to drive productivity and quality within design teams.
- Understands how to progress work from a business idea through to a fully formed set of stories which is ready for delivery.
- Familiar with prioritisation techniques including Weighted Shortest Job First. Experience in facilitating agile ceremonies.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with ability to articulate and resolve the causes of poor-quality delivery.
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of the agile business design process including the nuances of using agile at scale.
- Considers themselves to be an expert in agile business design processes.
- Passionate about keeping the MVP small in order to deliver quickly and iterate rapidly.
- Passionate about delivering high quality services customers will love and the process of continuous improvement.
