Job Description:

As the Associate Underwriting Director on our ABGA Team, you will analyze and deliver on more complex Individual Life Underwriting assignments/projects. You are responsible for underwriting life insurance applications within their designated approval limit of up to $10,000,000 and up to age 85. They evaluate and assess more complex risks to determine whether to accept an insurance application and determine the appropriate coverage/risk. In addition, they will facilitate presentations at agency visits.

Job Responsibilities:

• Communicates effectively with customers to facilitate placement of business.
• Develops creative solutions for appeals and exceptions to meet customer needs while ensuring alignment to business strategies.
• Consults/Analyze on more complex assignments and/or projects for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
• Enhances departmental outcomes by sharing knowledge with team members and providing advice on more complex underwriting determinations.
• Identifies and recommends process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
• Determines whether to accept, modify, or decline a risk through evaluation of an individual’s medical history or physical condition, occupational hazard, and financial background.

Job Requirements:

• Demonstrates excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task while maintaining strict attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong project management skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
• 3 – 5+ Years of Individual Life Underwriting experience that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities of the position (Required )
• Demonstrates the ability to use sound judgment and discretion regarding confidential information.
