Job Description:
The Enterprise and Information Systems Engineering Section provides information-oriented cross-cutting engineering processes, tools, and services across the Engineering and Science Directorate (ESD) and the Office of Safety and Mission Success (OSMS). The Section primarily engages in the production, exchange, management, and protection of data, information, and knowledge throughout the entire engineering development lifecycle.
Job Responsibilities:
- Keeping current on the current state of the practice, identifying opportunities in JPL’s practices, and acting as a change agent to bring about improvements.
- Know and apply appropriate tools, processes, and procedures affecting area of responsibility.
- Maintain and develop effective working relationships.
- Supporting the infusion of standard practices for knowledge management into ESD’s command media (e.g., JPL Rules), operating philosophies, planning, and performance.
- Defining, coordinating, and improving cross-cutting KM processes, and being responsible for the design, deployment, and evolution of robust operating environment (culture, tools, and content) which continuously improves JPL’s ability to effectively leverage its knowledge.
- Providing consulting, training, and KM process facilitation to JPL employees.
- Serve as a resource for JPL organizations to ensure that local knowledge sharing and capture approaches utilize “best practices.”
- Coordinating or leading efforts in partnership with HR, ITSD, Enterprise Transformation, JPL Library, Section 319, and other organizations that may interface in this domain to achieve strategic KM goals.
- Providing implementation support and domain expertise to the deployment of JPL’s enterprise knowledge management policies, strategies, and systems.
- Partner in leading JPL’s efforts to create the environment that supports and encourages open knowledge sharing.
- Assisting the in developing, implementing, and maintaining the Lab’s Knowledge Management Architecture and Strategic Plan.
- Use industry best practices to ensure success in areas of responsibility.
- Providing project, program, and line guidance and support in capture, discovery, and transfer of knowledge and continuous learning.
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated accomplishments in Knowledge Management domain
- Demonstrated ability to reach across organizational lines to bring together stakeholders and achieve results
- Ability to learn and understand the tools used by JPL staff to share, capture and curate knowledge.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Capabilities in engaging a variety of staff types including engineers and/or scientists in developing proposals, business or use cases, and solutions.
- Personal commitment to knowledge management practices.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant areas such as Organizational Behavior, Learning, Industrial/Organizational with a minimum of 9 years of related experience, Master’s with 7 years of related experience or PhD with 5 years of related experience.
- Demonstrated experience in creating new solutions to complex problems
