Job Description:
The engineer will contribute to the design projects related to diverse electronic systems, printed circuit boards, and peripheral devices. The engineer will work with cross-functional team members from System Engineering, System Integration, Manufacturing, Field Service, Design Quality, and Supply Chain to support the in-vitro diagnostic product lines.
Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluates supplier capabilities.
- Contributes to designs of innovative solutions addressing obsolescence, reliability, manufacturing, and cost reductions for electronic systems.
- Completes design projects while meeting schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
- Works with suppliers during development to ensure product manufacturability (DFM) and testability (DFT).
- Troubleshoots and performs root-cause analyses on product failures occurring in design verification, manufacturing, and field.
- Reviews, generates, and approves product drawings, schematics, layouts, and specifications.
- Occasionally travels to suppliers, customer sites, or manufacturing sites.
Qualification & Experience:
- Familiarity with control and digital communication subsystems
- 0-2 related work experience
- Familiarity with PCB assemblies, layouts, fabrications, and PCB manufacturing
- Familiarity with designing mixed-signal systems
- Familiarity with programmable logic devices and microprocessors
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Applies engineering technical knowledge for specified engineering discipline.
- Familiarity with position, proximity, and pressure sensors
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
- Familiarity with motor control and temperature control circuits
- Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and biologics is desired
- Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or closely related discipline preferred OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC, ESD, and transient suppression
- Experience working in an FDA-regulated environment desired
