Job Description: As a Corporate Accountant you will exercise good judgment, upholding rules and procedures while considering the needs of a multitude of stakeholders. Your analytical ability and comprehensive knowledge of the industry regulations and accounting concepts will ensure the continued success of The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, today, tomorrow, and in the future. Job Responsibilities: Facilitate the flow of information throughout the property, by attending regularly scheduled departmental meetings and acting as a resource for accounting policy and procedure. Meet regularly with department management to review their profit and loss statement and consult on other financial matters. Prepare assigned general ledger journal entries. Document accounting procedures and identify improvements. Reconcile balance sheet accounts in a timely, effective manner using judgment to identify and resolve variances. Held accountable, to a high degree, for the accuracy, confidentiality, and thoroughness of departmental records and reports. Prepare and/or assist in various tax calculations and related filings. Document and provide company position on certain tax matters and discuss these with tax management. Utilize technical computer applications such as Microsoft Excel, Blackline, Infinium General Ledger, and COGNOS reporting tools. Prepare data for internal and external auditors; work with the auditors to address audit inquiries on assigned accounts. Prepare and distribute other reports on an as needed basis, such as daily cash report. Other duties as assigned. Assist with tax audits, tax research and other ad hoc tax projects as they arise. Conduct accounting research and provide recommendations for applying GAAP principles to business transactions. Analyze assigned department profit and loss statements to ensure accuracy, make necessary corrections and provide results to operating departments. Job Requirements: Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram from and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Excellent customer service Skills. At least 21 years of age. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex of documents, such as technical journals, contracts, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to successfully lead and mentor a team. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Polished appearance and demeanor. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate in English. Working knowledge of Blackline, Infinium General Ledger, and COGNOS reporting tools. Proficient in mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Qualification & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or related field. At least one year of accounting experience in the gaming and/or hotel industry. At least one year of accounting experience in a similar role/environment. Previous experience in a large, luxury resort setting.
