Job Description: Incumbent functions as the specialist in electrical building systems maintenance, both preventive and corrective. Incumbent’s duties involve electrical engineering as practiced in the design and management of a preventive and corrective maintenance program for large, advanced state-of-the-art, office buildings. Primary electrical focus is on controls & fire protection systems. Incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing methods and procedures for the efficient and economical maintenance (preventive and corrective) of building systems, as well as ensuring that the Building Quality Improvement (BQI) programs are compatible with the building design parameters. Job Responsibilities: The unit supervisor assigns work and is available for assistance when required; however, the incumbent has wide latitude in determining the methods to be followed in completing assignments. Work is reviewed on a regular basis for completeness, technical accuracy and conformance to existing policy. When existing procedures do not apply, the incumbent may have to develop procedures using specifications for the equipment, vendor manuals, and past experience and are reviewed by the Supervisor for accuracy. The incumbent sets own priorities to meet established deadlines. Job Requirements: Must have demonstrated proficiency in electrical engineering as evidenced by completion of Engineering Graduate Progression Plan or equivalent post engineering graduate education and experience. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering or comparable related engineering discipline. Experience in preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance and a wide knowledge of various mechanical and electrical components and systems. Education and Experience/Certificates, Licenses, and Registration Requirements/Other Requirements It is desirable to be an active member of at least one professional organization such as IEEE, Professional Engineering, ISA, ASHRAE and etc. It is desirable to be a registered professional engineer.
